Preview: Britain’s Got Power

Britain’s Got Power is our third resource and is currently about half way complete.

In this resource, students are given the role of the Head of the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and are tasked with ensuring that the UK meets its 2020 renewable energy targets. It won’t be easy as currently the UK lags far behind many other EU countries, but with enough skill, knowledge and determination the target should be within reach.

The Scottish Learning Festival 2010

We will be attending the Scottish Learning Festival in Glasgow in September. We won’t be exhibiting there this year, but it will be great to be able to walk around and look at other stands without having one our own to look after, and it’s also an ideal place to gauge some ideas we have for BETT in January next year.

See you there!

The discussion forum is active

Although the portal is currently still closed to subscriptions, the discussion forum is open and ready to accept users who might want to ask questions about the service that we’re working on, make suggestions or requests for features and provide feedback on those already in place.

It will of course also serve as a support forum for subscribed users once we’re taking subscriptions.

If you’re interested in discussing any of the above, do feel free to register on the forum at http://forum.learnalot.co.uk.

The Learnalot portal is unveiled

It is with great pleasure that we can now unveil the Learnalot portal, now available for the first time at www.learnalot.co.uk.

We’re not taking subscriptions yet as there are still a few resources to complete, but the completion- and subsequent unveiling- of the portal does at least allow those eager to know more about what we’re doing to take a look; for interested parties to register for updates in the form of a newsletter; and of course for the search engines to start indexing the site in the run-up to launch.

Please feel free to take a look around, register for the newsletter and maybe even register on the discussion forums should you have any questions or feedback.

Preview: Going for Gold

Our second resource, Going for Gold, is now nearing completion with development on the third resource going ahead at full steam now that the portal itself is complete.

In Going for Gold, the student is given the role of a new dietician whose first client is 16 year old Graham Jackobs, a gifted young athlete who is achieving impressive 100m times despite leading an unhealthy lifestyle. The student is asked to turn Graham’s lifestyle around by working out a healthy diet and training regime that will help him break that magical 10-second barrier.

Preview: Settlers

It’s been in development since last year, but since securing investment back in March we’ve been able to accelerate development and the resource is now complete. The graphics, the audio, the activities and all of the new functionality that we can’t reveal yet is all done and ready to go!

Settlers is our first resource but we have several others at various stages of development, as well as the portal itself of course. Because some of its features can only be revealed when the portal is launched, the screenshots below have been carefully selected to give a sample of what’s to come without spoiling any surprises.

Now that our first resource is complete, the others will follow a lot more quickly. Stay tuned!

Learnalot at BETT 2011

We will be officially launching the Learnalot portal at BETT onĀ 12-15 January 2011, at Olympia in London. BETT is the world’s largest education technology show and was visited by almost 30,000 people last year; almost a quarter of which were international visitors.

You will find our stand in the Software Zone at stand number SW80. At the show you will be able to access the portal and navigate the resources. Some of the team will be at hand to answer any questions and to provide demonstrations.

We would love for you to come along and visit the Learnalot stand!
